Job Description:
REC is seeking an enthusiastic, highly organized, full-time Professional Engineer for engineering consulting services in our St. George or Provo, Utah offices. The company’s services include roadways and highways, surveying, aviation, civil and municipal engineering, and transportation planning and traffic engineering.
Position Summary:
This position is for a mid-level engineer (5-10 years) in the civil engineering field. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses the initiative, desire and leadership to continuously improve and bring enthusiasm to the office environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to obtain new work and manage staff to complete the work.
- Ability to manage projects and ensure completion on time and within budget.
- Creates construction plan sets and exhibits using CAD software.
- Performs complex design tasks.
- Prepares and edits project documents, specifications and special provisions.
- Manages and inspects construction activities.
- Has an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Performs advanced technical work, computations or analysis.
- Prepares permit applications.
- Assigns tasks to and coordinates with technicians, administrative staff and other engineers.
- Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments.
- Completes small and mid-size projects and works on portions of larger projects.
- Performs research and investigations.
- Determines scheduling requirements.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Utah.
- Ability to understand engineering project details, with the ability to communicate those details to individuals inside and outside of the firm both in person and in writing.
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication including strong word processing and spreadsheet skills.
- Proficiency in MicroStation and Power Inroads and other Bentley design software.
- Knowledge of AutoCad Civil 3D a plus.
- Experience with designing UDOT Projects using the (2011 & 2014) Project Delivery Network.
- Experience working with local municipalities in Utah.
- Good understanding of engineering principles and design techniques.
